If the Office Siren has undoubtedly invaded social networks and the noses of millennials (and not only!), it seems that the small rectangular glasses are likely to soon run out of steam according to Bella Hadid, one of the most fashionable it-girls of the moment, who never ceases to inspire new trends in the four corners of the world.
The siren glasses would be replaced by the "geek chic" glasses, as they are called on Tiktok. The latter has the appearance of a thicker frame and a more "square" shape. It is, in short, the glasses that could have been found in any fast fashion store during the 2010s.
Bye-bye Office Siren, Welcome geek-chic!
She is still everywhere, the Office Siren is this young woman who advocates the return of suits and stiletto heels to the office. A new fashion that most certainly appeared in response to the post-pandemic return to offices.
Indeed, at the beginning of 2020, companies encouraged their employees to work remotely as much as possible. A new way of life that mainly encouraged us to get out our most comfortable tracksuits and put our suits away in the closet. But the "office siren" wants to become the chic and stylish girlboss again. sexy that we could notably see in the film "The Devil Wears Prada", through the role of the top model Gisele Bundchen.
And the one who initiated this big comeback of the small rectangular glasses is none other than the model Bella Hadid, who loved to wear them with a pulled bun and pumps. Only recently, Bella replaced her small thin glasses for a thicker frame, which is reminiscent of those that invaded the shelves of Topshop in 2008. These famous glasses that we loved to wear with a small braided headband and a moustache necklace. And for those who know, know: all of it obviously photographed in a selfie with the head slightly tilted! Can you see it better now? And if for you it's just a change of ordinary glasses, we prefer to announce it now: be ready for the big comeback of Peter Pan collars and slim pants!
2010, the year of the peak of geek-chic!
Geek chic peaked around the same time we all wanted to live in Zoey Deschannel's roommate from New Girl. The exact same time when stores were overflowing with brogue-style shoes and bouffant skirts that reached above the knee. Men, on the other hand, were all about suspenders and bow ties to look "classy" and made sure their ankles were always exposed thanks to their little white ankle socks and didn't care if their cardigans were a little too tight because the main thing was: you didn't have one!
Even though they are close, these two trends are different on several points. First of all, if the siren is not necessarily going to respect all the office rules, the geek, on the other hand, will carry out her tasks without flinching and will fall into line. The geek-chic wants to be wiser, less sexy and more clumsy. To sum up, she is surely less "cool" than the office because the geek-chic does not dress to get noticed and does not care about being a group leader, unlike the office siren .
We can also imagine that the geek becomes a "bully" while the office siren is rather the one who bullies... And then for Bella, the small rectangular ones are no longer subversive enough today since they have literally been adopted (in record time) by all the cool girls online. And then in the end, is there anything cooler than having a geek side when you are the most adored model in the world? Honestly not sure...

The geek-chic trend already glimpsed in the fashion world!
As we know, fashion is nothing but an eternal restart. And the big comeback of geek-chic is not so surprising in the end since the office siren is also intrinsically linked to an aesthetic from the early 2000s. What's more, if we were recently able to see the big comeback of Calvin Klein and Prada silhouettes from the beginning of the century, during the last Fashion Week, we could see that a brand like MiuMiu - which brilliantly illustrated the office siren aesthetic - chose to bring back to the forefront the iconic slim jeans that made the ink flow in the entire fashion press since 2010!
At the same time, we see that Aaron Esh, head of Topshop, made direct references to Kate Moss' iconic silhouette from the 2010s in his latest collections. While Masha Papova's left behind her Y2K aesthetic and invited us back fifteen years for her AW24 show.
