Glasses, the new flagship fashion accessory!

Gone are the days when people were mocked for their pair of glasses, judged either too geeky, too ugly, too big or too colorful... Indeed, it seems that those days are over and that glasses have become the essential accessory in our wardrobe to succeed in rubbing shoulders with cool more closely.

Propelled to the forefront of the fashion scene by Miu-Miu a year ago, glasses have since multiplied rapidly on the catwalks of course, but also in the front rows of many podiums. Seconde Vue deciphers for you the new trends of this fall.

Visible bezel, the new cool

It seems that this small object, long mocked, now embodies a new form of cool in the fashion world. With or without correction, glasses have become a true centerpiece of a look, sometimes even having the ability to transform a seemingly ordinary look into a bold, even cutting-edge outfit! And this September Fashion Week has only confirmed our words.
Indeed, this is certainly the first time that we have noticed an unprecedented craze for this small everyday object. And this, notably through the latest Saint Laurent fashion show by Anthony Vaccarello. We see very imposing frames but above all directly inspired by the glasses of the designer Yves Saint Laurent himself. In addition, we discover a certain Belle Hadid who resurfaces on the catwalk after a long absence, who sports like no one else a sublime black suit enhanced by oversized glasses . A comeback that has caused ink to flow all over the world!
Furthermore, we also see more and more it-girls and pop stars of all kinds such as Hailey Bieber or Billie Eilish, making more and more frequent appearances with their glasses. If the two stars do not have the same style, it would seem that they have both succumbed to the same style of glasses; the small rectangular ones typical of the late 90s and early 2000s!

Retro, always at the forefront!

If the small rectangular bezel, more commonly called on social networks the frame  of the "office siren" , has caused a real stir on TikTok, it seems that it is running out of steam slightly to better make way for more imposing and visible models.
Indeed, many designers like Lacoste, Loewe Stella McCartney, Valentino and Victoria Beckham have breathed new life into glasses. And one thing is for sure: wearing glasses has never been so trendy! We can therefore say "bye-bye" to small, thin and discreet glasses to better accommodate the extra wide, extra large, extra colorful frames... In short: extra-ordinary! In a few words; we are leaving quiet luxury behind for a while to better welcome the extravagance of the 80s or 2010s...
And who else but the iconic Iris Apfel to inspire us the best? Because this fall we want frames that are more eye-catching than ever! And for this occasion, we have prepared a selection of vintage glasses at the cutting edge of fashion.

Vuarnet, a frame from the 90s

Made of brown acetate, this typical 90s frame seduces us with its very comfortable fit but also with its slightly butterfly shape, which adds a touch of originality while remaining understated.
