It is of course the essential accessory of each summer: sunglasses are like the little cherry on the cake of each of our looks. They can sometimes highlight an outfit or sometimes "break" the classicism of a silhouette.
Sometimes extravagant, sometimes discreet, they are there for comfort of course, but also for style! Day glasses or night glasses, we have analyzed for you the trends of this summer 2024.
XXL sunglasses
Exit minimalism, Mediterranean brands like Versace, Gucci or Loewe have opted for frames that are at the very least flashy! And we love them. Wide or colored frames (often white) that are reminiscent of the glasses of the 70s, which can be seen in the film "La Picsine" on Jane Birkin's nose.
The small rectangular sunglasses of the "Office Siren"
Back to a much more minimalist fashion, strongly inspired by the 90s; rectangular glasses still seem to be one of the key trends of 2024. They have been seen on models such as Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Hailer Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski.
From vintage Chanel, Gucci, Dior or Prada, we like it colored or black, in any case one thing is sure: the "office siren" glasses are just as unanimous in the solar version as in optical! Having become an essential part of our wardrobes, the small rectangular glasses will undoubtedly cross the decades and generations.
Rectangular rimless sunglasses
We're still in the same decade but not necessarily in the same style. Indeed, the pierced glasses give a more Rnb vibe and less "Matrix". Highly popularized by actress Jennifer Aniston in the 90s, they are now finding their moment of glory thanks, among others, to many rappers as well as model Bella Hadid.
Timeless and elegant, the pierced sunglasses will go just as well with jeans as with a little dress, as well as on a man or a woman! Unlike optical pierced glasses, solar pierced glasses have this "jewelry" side that immediately brings a boost of pep to an outfit.
The timeless Aviator glasses
According to legend, it was the American pilot John Macready who wanted to develop glasses designed especially for aviators after seeing one of his friends suffer serious eye injuries after furtively removing his sunglasses at an altitude of over 10,000 meters... Following this incident, he decided to call on a company to develop sunglasses capable of protecting pilots from the blinding rays of the sun during their flights.
This gave rise to the first Aviator glasses, recognizable by their very thin metal frame and their dark green “RB3” convex lenses, renowned for considerably reducing glare and improving vision.
A shape that will be an immediate success both in sports and with stars - who will very quickly re-appropriate them. And almost a century later, Aviators remain one of the most popular frames. Their unisex shape ensures a more casual look and have the ability to take us back to the 70s if we equip them with yellow lenses!
Gold-rimmed sunglasses
Another timeless piece that never ceases to prove itself: the small golden frame that crosses the years... and the seasons! On skis, as on the beach, this small frame with a touch of retro always proves to be a good choice. A "jewel" frame, which will twist a silhouette in no time!
Square acetate sunglasses
With its slightly sportier look, square sunglasses are the perfect frame for all situations. What's more, in the midst of the "Quiet Luxury" trend, a luxury that is more discreet and less ostentatious than in the 80s or 2000s for example, the small square sunglasses are rising from their ashes and have not yet said their last word!
We saw it in optics on the nose of Yves Saint Laurent or in sunglasses on Kate Moss in the early 2000s, the square shape or "Wayfarer" at Ray-ban is definitely one of the most iconic frames in the world of glasses! Its classic charm easily adapts to all silhouettes.
