Today the priority is simple. It is about living and evolving while respecting the environment. The impact of Man on the environment is considerable, we know it and above all we can measure it. Adapting our lifestyles and our consumption patterns is becoming essential and is becoming a subject that concerns everyone. We must at all costs readjust our way of life to convert to a more sustainable, more eco-responsible system and this obviously involves our way of consuming on a daily basis.
Seconde Vue was created by Alice Violier in November 2021. In a context where our production models pose a problem for our planet, and faced with the observation of why produce more when there are hundreds of thousands of pairs of glasses already produced, of rare quality and with an assertive style?
Today, we present our eco-responsible commitments in detail and thus, how it is possible to build a company with regard to the climate context and how to make it more respectful of the environment?
Vintage glasses: nothing is lost
It is estimated that around 100 million pairs of glasses are sleeping in the drawers of individuals in France. We like to think that these 100 million vintage glasses are destined to find a second home, a second life, a second sight!
This is what Seconde Vue has decided to implement. Thus, vintage glasses already produced are returned to the workshops between the hands and eyes of our expert opticians in order to be restored. Rather than producing again and again, why not repair and refurbish forgotten pairs of glasses?
Because yes, we assure you, it is possible to repair even what sometimes seems unrepairable. Our mission? That nothing is lost. This also involves the possibility of repairing the pairs of glasses that are dear to you.
This is why we also offer to refurbish your pairs by cleaning, replacing the lenses, changing the nose pads, etc. We offer services for different types of repairs in our workshops with our opticians.
We repair your pairs, but our mission is also to look for forgotten pairs of vintage or second-hand glasses. Some frames live in time and can cross generations and this is our second mission: We restore forgotten glasses in order to give them a second life. The precious pairs that have seen the years go by and still manage to make our hearts beat: VINTAGE
The pairs of glasses that after having found a first home are ready to find a second: THE SECOND HAND.
Without producing more and by taking advantage of what we already have, we guarantee quality and trend while adopting more responsible and environmentally friendly measures. Vintage glasses then become a responsible purchase.
Upcycling vintage glasses as a production model
Upcycling can be understood as overcycling or recycling. It is therefore a question of recovering materials in order to create a new product, the idea being that it is of a higher standard. It was in the 90s that upcycling was named for the first time by a German architect, his intention being to give more value to the material in opposition to classic recycling which consists of destroying said material. We will therefore speak of recycling upwards.
This ecological and ingenious trend has spread to many areas, including fashion. Thus, we also use upcycling for different purposes. First, to give your glasses a new look by using colored lenses! Second, for all our packaging from reusable bags to scotch tape ;)
Upcycling vintage glasses through colored lenses
And yes… it’s finally possible… mixing vintage and new!
Seconde Vue has a variety of colored lenses to allow you to personalize your frames!
Indeed, brown or blue lenses, through orange, purple and green. Color gradients are also lenses that will offer great singularity to your vintage glasses. Upcycling with colored lenses is also a way to give character to frames, sometimes too classic...
Make your vintage pair even more unique. The lenses are of high quality, we work with Essilor, the world's number 1 glassmaker and Novacel at the top of the ranking.
Upcycling in our packaging
At Seconde Vue we reuse everything, including presentation trays, we have recovered everything, gleaned everything.
If you order online, it is important to note that your package will be delivered in a cardboard box with tissue paper, and our little thank you note will be written on recycled cardboard paper.
For the majority of our packaging we work with an association for the disabled. They make great bags signed Seconde Vue from old advertising tarpaulins that were going to be thrown away. Our bags marked Seconde Vue are produced from vintage or deadstock fabrics with different designs, floral or full green, we also use materials like velvet.
Our cases are made in Italy, in purple and green velvet, the hardest part will be choosing between these two colors!
If you too are nostalgic for the fashions and designs of the past.
