Who was he? How did he mark an entire era?

Thierry Mugler's childhood

Born in Strasbourg on December 12, 1948, he began practicing classical dance at the age of 9 before joining the ballets of the Rhine Opera at the age of 14.
Thierry Mugler has a passion for drawing, which led him to enroll at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg to study interior design.
In 1969, he moved to Paris and became interested in the world of fashion.

Thierry Mugler, fashion icon

1973, the year Thierry Mugler signs his very first collection that he calls "Café de Paris". But it is really from the 80s-90s that Thierry Mugler is recognized internationally. In 1992, the designer creates his first haute couture collection, each model is carefully thought out like a work of art. His innovative fashion allows him to dress the biggest stars like Céline Dion or Diana Ross, and to influence a whole generation of designers.

The distinctive signs of Thierry Mugler

The creator's emblem par excellence is the five-pointed star. In 1992, he released his first perfume, "Angel", which took the form of this signature star.

The woman he imagines has a structured look, a highlighted, molded body, assertive shoulders, a wasp waist. He makes bodies spectacular.
We quickly recognize his creations thanks to his suits with unusual shoulder pads, his dresses with marked waists, or his star-shaped buttons.
